The Charter for Ecosystemic Planning of Cities and Metropolies is an initiative of the Urban Ecology Agency of Barcelona open to the world.
The Charter is addressed to all those institutions – cities, regions, non-profit organizations, among others – and professionals from diverse disciplines that are involved in the management and/or planning of urban systems, whether for maintenance or transformation.
It aims to integrate all the strategic components of the future transformation of cities that are, as is known, the future of humanity.
It considers cities as ecosystems. Therefore, its conception is based on ecology as a science, ecosystems being its object of attention and study.
Cities are complex ecosystems. The formulation of intentional models, from different prisms, in which to fit the principles, constraints, and instruments needed to address the challenges of this new era, requires maximum support and participation to incorporate its precepts into institutional mandates, practice professional or teaching centers.
